Major General Semyon Tchernetsky (1881-1950) was a Soviet military conductor and the founder of modern Russian military bands. He was born in Odessa to a musical family and studied trombone in the orchestra of the 24th Dragoon Lubny Regiment in Chisinau, where his uncle was the conductor. He graduated from St Petersburg Conservatory in 1917 and later joined the Red Army where he was appointed as the head of military bands.
Tank Corps March, or March of the Tankmen is an old concert favourite of Bones Apart Trombone Quartet's and is skillfully arranged by Lorna McDonald.
